What this is
Sharp Voyage covers a small number of places, in detail, with opinions.
We are not trying to cover the world. There is a short list of destinations on this site and it grows slowly. Each one we return to, revise, and occasionally argue with ourselves about. We would rather be right about Corsica than adequate about forty countries.
How we work
We check things against primary sources. Not aggregators, not other travel sites, not booking platforms. If a museum’s opening hours matter to an article, we take them from the museum. If a nature reserve restricts access, we read the decree. This is slower and it is the whole point — a great deal of English-language travel writing is confidently wrong because it was copied from something that was already wrong.
We publish what we could verify, and say what we could not. Where something matters and we have not been able to confirm it, we leave it out rather than guess.
We revisit. Opening times change, sites close for restoration, chairlifts stop running in March. An article that was accurate last year is not automatically accurate now, and we go back through them.
We leave more out than we put in. A handful of recommendations per article, at most. A list of thirty restaurants is not curation, it is a directory with adjectives.
What we are not
Sharp Voyage is not a travel agency. We do not book, arrange, sell or organise travel, and we do not act as an intermediary between you and anyone else. Everything on this site is editorial. When you decide to go somewhere, you deal directly with the hotel, the operator or the airline, on their terms.
We say this plainly because a lot of publications in this space blur the line, and the blur is usually deliberate.

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you follow one and book, the provider pays us a commission. You pay the same price you would pay going direct.
We do not accept payment for coverage. We do not run sponsored articles or paid placements. Commission does not determine what appears here — we write about the same small number of places whether or not there is a link attached to them.

Who writes this
Sharp Voyage is published under one name, without bylines, author photographs or personal social accounts. That is deliberate — the argument should stand on whether it is right, not on who is making it.
What we will tell you is where the limits are. When a fact could not be confirmed, the article says so rather than writing around it — check locally, confirm before you book, the date has already moved once. Those lines are not hedging. They are the parts we could not verify, left visible.
