Piedmont

The Langhe is a landscape of hill villages with one town in the middle of it. Almost everyone plans a Langhe truffle trip around the Alba fair, and almost everyone therefore misses half the season.

Turin was the first capital of unified Italy, it has 18 kilometres of arcaded street, and outside Cairo it holds the most important collection of Egyptian antiquities in the world. It receives a fraction of the visitors of Florence, Venice or Milan. Turin is the natural airport for the truffle country, and most visitors treat it as a transfer.

The Alba market runs 10 October to 6 December 2026, weekends only. The legal white truffle harvesting season runs 1 October to 31 January, set by regional decree. That leaves roughly eight weeks of legal season after the market has closed — in a region that has emptied of visitors.
